KGP my love

Sitting at the comfort of my hostel room, with a PC, full volume music ON I always wonder ’’will I miss my alma mater?’’ The answer to this question is a resounding YES. Ask me why?

I can tell you many reasons close to my heart, but before saying anything I would like to say that words are not enough to describe IIT KGP

I am from the metropolitan Kolkata( where density of population is too high for comfort). When I came to the institute for the first time I saw lots of tree, big parks and untrimmed grasses. The mind bell started ringing ’’have I come to a jungle’’.

But soon I realized I am at the lap of nature.I started to decide minor things which I couldn’t have thought of in my home.In company of freinds who always there to share notes .gossip or just waste time together One should not be surprised if I tell him that I go to home once in 2 months because travelling 116 km to reach a place as congested as Kolkata and in stark contrast to KGP is a nightmare to me.

Freedom to do what you like (bunk class, sleep at day, non submission of assignments ) is at your own sweet will if you dont cross the ’’lakshman rekha’’. The institute taught me to draw the fine line between dos and donts.

A walk to chedis at the dead of night is only possible here Living with such a varied group of students from different part of india and abroad is a teaching experience.

Three month down the line, I wont be here but the place will go on.a new batch of ppl would join this place But the 5 long years I will treasure the most and would always love to come back again to this place as an eighteen year innocent teenager .

Although there is not much outside IIT campus but the contents inside the campus are enough to put any other engg. institute to shame.

Will miss U KGP ..but deep inside my heart I know life moves on and I will be more glad to spread what I have learned during this formative yrs

P.S. Whatever I say is just an emotional affair & I still want to leave this place and meet me the next time in campus I would only say ills about the institute :)

Uninterested stuff

What to do when you have to do the things which you dont want to do ?
What to do when you have to walk on a path which dont leads to your destination ?
What to do when life questions you comeon this is not the goal nor the aim which u have in life !
When whatever you do is not relevant to whatever you plan to do

We all know that this path is necessary to walk as one has set his foot on it ! Although this path may be the parallel path .but it is needed to supplement the original path

Options are

1. Just crib about everything and resign
   
2. Make ur heart strong and face the task

And the best which I do ...Go on weeping till the eleventh hour and finish it up striking a mighty blow

Come this task I will again do the same ..Just waiting for the eleventh hour

1825 days.......

5 long years ...5 best years of our young life .. 5 shaping years ...paanch saal. When every interviewer asks dont u thin you have wasted this time ?... Its really difficult to come to an answer .But all of us say something ..something which we would just laugh hearing ..something we know is a crap ..But we go on repeating the same stuff again and again ..without fail . and given a chance will repaet the same .YO KGP

A superhuman called Sabyasachi

I have been living beside a superhuman called Sabyasachi Chatterjee for last 4 years
We call him chachi .he taught me how to "ENJOY LIFE "... His smile says it all

Have you ever seen a possessive MOM who wants to take exxtra care of her kids ...even if they are grown up .. The kid always feel uneasy with such mother and wants to get away fromm such a web ...BUT the kid never knows that he will die if the mother is not there ... he will miss him very much when there is nobody to take care ...... I just feel like a kid when I hear his assertive voice dictating me to do this or that

THINGS I HATE He bugs you multiple times" get up come to class " ..come to dept lets work lets work "He can be very irritating with his ideas and small wonders which he gets ..He feels happy if he gets a hot rosogolla ..or a chicken or a small pat from any professor .. He knows everyone and "bugs" everyone...he does not share "chicken.sweets etc " with anybody .He considers me the biggest miser ever born in this world

But I love him... ( Life is composed of moment you live in ..so enjoy it )
He can envy any laughter club member when he finds reason to cheer from small things in life ..a computer god .. he never thinks twice when somebody needs him. he can socialize with nebody and finds joke to make fun ...he speaks the cutest "hindi " i have ever heard .when ever he gets angry it looks that he is laughing I have only seen him psyched in 2nd yr when he was having troubles on love front .and he is a really hard worker although his direction of effort won't tally with the world ..
His wife will be luckiest girl in this planet .. I have many many more things to tell which I will tell to his wife which I can't telll everybody :)

LOVE YOU for whatever you are ..Never change even if I tell you multiple times . I know you are one of its kind which god makes after lots of thought

IIM L GD PI experience

after a 3-4 mock GDs and a very good mock interview ( IMS ) and equally psyched out interview at TIME ..

Kept my finger crossed for the final day .. I was nervous for sure .

GD Topic:

Statistics is the only science where different experts come to different interpretations seeing the same graph ..

Ever heard of a boring topic than that.

7 candidate …peaceful not a fish Market…may be everybody was equally bored .

If this was not enough they asked us to write a 150 words write up on the topic in 10 minutes .Every one talked about how to collect sample but did not ponder into whether it was the only science

I did not uttered a single word for first 5 minutes .Then I remembered that this is my only call and came into the GD 5-6 times I was asked to summarize ( as I spoke least) which I did pretty well.

Overall 6/10

3^rd to be interviewed .Other two were asked no question on acads so I was very happy but fate had a different view on me

P1:So tell us about yourself

M: Repeated the ritual

P1: so you are an architect ? is it same as Civil engg ?( I could see the smile on his face and he was ready to grill me if I said that we use civil inputs although in a small way )

M: NO

P1: I don’t know anything about architecture ? You ask ( to P2)

( It’s a different issue that he went on to ask archi question for next 10 mins

p1: whts Mughal.british architecture example from your city .etc

Answered them well

P1: whts whispering gallery ?how it works in golkunda fort

Unable to tell the structure but told him the basic form

P1: Do you use shading calculation on building software

Hell No.

P1: they don’t teach you such useful things. Things which have been done 100 of years back …you don’t know ?

(Sir u are right … do tell our profs )

P1: is India a democracy ?

What !!....abrupt jump from acads to general awareness

P1: how is it different from other country

Talked about constitution … art 356 . etc

Fairly convinced

P2: so what kind of books do you read?

Me : Non fiction .

P2: is advertisement not waste of money

Had a lengthy decision whether quality of product is important or advertisement Why a good movie like RDB need advertisement …is it not all gimmickry ?

He kept on asking the same thing “WASTE OF MONEY “.I tried using different example “cola vs coca cola “ RDB vs DDLJ .. target consumer ..noise level in ad world

Grabbing consumer attention . …it continued for 5 mins

Finally his face said he was convinced although he kept on frustating me

Interview 9/10

Gut feel says I made it through but Only almighty knows better

L or no L .I am going to go for a job. No tempo to attend classes for next 2 yr …if I join any institute at this point of time.I will be surely be kicked out of institute

But after 2 yrs it will be very funny to make the panel understand my shift from archi to IT to MBA …hahaha
